Rev. Howard Li was born in Hong Kong. He went to Canada at the age of seventeen, completed his undergraduate study in Applied Physics at Waterloo University and worked as a technologist at Atomic Energy of Canada building nuclear reactors.
In 1979, Li moved to New York City to be with his wife Jennifer and worked as a computer systems designer developing the 1st generation of ATM machine at Citibank and designing international financial reporting systems at Mobil and Pfizer. In 1993, Li accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized during Christmas the same year. He responded to God’s calling in 1996, resigned from his computer systems designer job and surrendered to full time ministry. He completed his Master of Divinity at Alliance Theological Seminary in 1998 and was ordained in 1999. Li served as the Chinese Pastor at Chinese Evangel Mission Church in New York City from 1996 until 2006, and is currently the Senior Pastor of Trust In God Baptist Church also in New York City. He also serves on the Executive Board of Baptist Convention of New York, Metropolitan New York Baptist Association and Chinese Baptist Fellowship. Li has a big heart in mission and church planting. He was instrumental in planting a church in Flushing, New York and building 2 churches overseas.
Rev. Howard Li has been married to Jennifer for over 30 years. They have 2 grown children, Andrew and Cynthia. Andrew is a CPA working for Ernest & Young in New York City. Cynthia is a student at Hunters College, New York City completing her graduate study on Social Works.
